Transition Stories
Transitions are the hardest things ever for most humans.
Even though we have all been through transitions that looked scary at first and turned out alright, we still tend to be terrified by the next big one.
Transitions of power have been especially fraught throughout history. Being able to pull one off at all at the National level with even a veneer of civility is one of the main signs of a stable country.
Stories told during a transition are usually efforts to shape or determine the post-transition outcome.
There are still two stories being widely told nine days after the election. One is that Trump lost. The other is that the apparent loss was fraudulent and the contest is not over. Both stories exist in many forms, including legal suits and countersuits. It is not the merit of the legal claims that matters, merely the existence of the claims, which could affect the timing of the transition in critical ways.
Many people are aware of an alternate election track, based on timing issues. They are aware the alternate track favors Trump. The general response to this possibility, as far as I can discern, is to assume that very smart and powerful people are on the case, so don’t worry. Apparently they find that belief reassuring but I don’t.
What I think the very smart and powerful people are doing is telling their version of the story Really Loud, over and over. TRUMP LOST!!! TRUMP LOST!!!
I think they believe that the repetitious shouting will create an environment in which Republican State Legislators will find it difficult if not impossible to vote for their team no matter what the heck the people said.
I don’t know if Trump will be able to get the election onto the State-by-State track that represents his only chance, but if he does, and the big Counter Strategy is to yell TRUMP LOST!!! over and over, Trump will win.
Any ideas of what else the smart and powerful Varsity might be doing, or could be doing? Other than shouting?
